Professor Phillip Y. Amakye is an old student of Konongo Odumasi Secondary School (Anuanom) ‘O’ & ‘A Level, holds Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Financial Management, Doctor of Business Administration in Finance (DBA) respectively from Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica (UNEM) (Business University of Costa Rica), MSc in Finance & Investment from London South Bank University (UK), BSc (Hons) Economics & Business Finance from Brunel University (UK), Graduate Diploma in Management (iPMA - U.K) and a Certificate in Microfinance from Southern New Hampshire University (USA).
Amakye is a Chartered Management Consultant (CMC), Member Chartered Professional Administrator (MCh PA), Member the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CiAMC), Certified Professional Financial Manager (CPFM – London), and holds Fellowship Chartered Financial Manager (FCFM)(USA); Design, Technology and Management Society International (FDTDMS) (SA), Institute of Professional Financial Managers (iPMA)(U.K.), and a Professional member, The Guild of Academicians (Pr MIGA)(SA).
Amakye played a crucial role in setting up First Allied S&L 1998 to 2009 as Executive Director Planning, Monitoring, Marketing & IT, Deputy MD Finance & Administration and Managing Director. He has several international working exposures from Banking, Finance & Investment - Midland Bank / HSBC, Hewitt Group, and D&G Plc all in the U.K., Special International assignment; Head of business delegation to Equatorial Guinea (Malabo & Bata), Tanzania (Dar es Salaam) UNDP sponsorship programme for Directors at Lagos Business School (LBS, Nigeria) and presented various seminar papers in Monrovia - Liberia and Nairobi - Kenya.
Amakye is the past Regional Chairman - Ghana Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GNCC&I) Ashanti & Brono Ahafo and served on National Executive Council (NEC), the past Chairman - Regional Advisory Committee Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) Ashanti and served on Ghana Shippers’ Council, former Vice President and President - Ashanti Chapter Association of Rural Banks, the former Vice - Chairman of the Board of Directors - New Generation Investment Services Plc, and licensed Investment Advisor, former Chairman Board of Governors - St. Mary’s Senior High School.
Professor Amakye is the former Chairman, Board of Directors Asante Akyem Rural Bank Plc, Fmr National Vice President ARB - Gh and Director ARB Apex Bank Plc (Mini Central Bank).
Currently, Phillip Yaw Amakye is the Chairman Board of Governors Konongo Odumasi Senior High School (Great KOSS) , Director Board of Governors - Our Lady of Grace SHS (OLAG), the Vice Chairman NGIS Money Market Fund Plc ( Technical Director for setting up NGIS MFUND), the Executive Chairman of Kate Memorial Hotels Ltd., and also Executive Director Finance & Administration OAA Consulting Limited, OAA / UNEM academic and research institutional linkages with various foreign Universities UNESCO listed, a Council member and Faculty team member; PhD seminars, dissertation / Thesis supervision and defense .
